A seven-vehicle accident resulted from a combination of illegal racing and alcohol that left two people dead and three others hospitalized. The two vehicles that initiated the crash appeared to be racing, according to one witness who was helping a disabled car at the time. One of the cars, a Chevelle, rear-ended an 18-wheeler, which set off the chain-reaction crash leading to a seven-vehicle pileup.
Investigators are calling the accident a crime, not a collision, due to the fact the cars were racing and the deaths that resulted. Carmen Castro of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said they had arrested an individual on the basis of criminally negligent homicide.
Sadly, it is shown time and again how devastating the outcomes are when the choice is made to drink and drive.
