According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 46 percent of multi-vehicle accidents in 2011 that left a motorcycle totaled, occurred at intersections. When motorists turn left, they frequently fail to yield to the motorcyclist’s right of way. Allstate decided to do something to increase awareness.
In 30 cities across the country, Allstate has plans to install motorcycle safety warning signs. The first such signs have already gone up in Baltimore. Designed as a yellow diamond-shaped sign with the words Watch out for Motorcycles, the signs will be installed at intersections and other places with a high number of motorcycle accidents.
The Allstate motorcycle safety campaign is deemed Once Is Never Enough and was two years in development before it was tested at 100 temporary sites around the country.
