Serious Gas Line Explosion Leaves Three Dead and Many Injured
The state of Texas is no stranger to serious injury due to gas and oil pipeline explosions. Such was the case yesterday when a serious explosion occurred in a gas line that resulted in three fatalities and a number of workers seriously injured.

Initial indications are that yesterday as many as three employees of a subcontractor of Brazos Electric Cooperative, C & H Power Line Construction Services were killed as they were drilling holes to put up power lines 15 miles south of Godley, in Johnson County, Texas. Several other workers were injured, some of them severely. Many were evacuated by car while others were evacuated by helicopter

According to news reports, Enterprise Products Partners of Houston, said it owns the 36-inch transmission gas pipeline, a part of the Texas Intrastate system, which exploded as workers were working off of maps which allegedly showed the location of the pipeline. However, according to at least one local land owner, the maps for his adjoining property did not accurately display the location of the pipelines on his property.
Rick Rainey, spokesman of Enterprise Product Partners indicated that the affected portion of the pipeline was shut down, allowing the flow of the transmission line to be halted. The original flames engulfed a circumference area of 400 to 600 feet as the flames shot high enough to be seen in Fort Worth.
